39th Annual Mahotsav Items & Graduate Guidelines

39TH ANNUAL MAHOTSAV 2014

ITEM & PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION:

Sunday June 8th (12 noon) to Sunday August 17th (12 noon)

To register your items and participants for this year’s Mahotsav please contact the Toronto Mahotsav committee via email at: TorontoMahotsav@gmail.com no earlier than Sunday June 8th at 12 noon, and please provide all items with participants’ full names for printing in the program no later than Sunday August 17th at 12 noon.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

 

·         Please register ALL the participants’ names. Please advise if any participant in your group is performing in more than one item, or if they are part of the Graduates or Sports Ceremony.

·         Participants are allowed to perform in a MAXIMUM of 2 ITEMS

·         The Mahotsav is scheduled to START at 1:00pm and END by 6:30pm (Intermission will be scheduled). To ensure we are within the time constraints of Rose Theatre we must implement the following rules:

o   DUPLICATE songs will NOT be allowed.

o   Only 2 new songs per mix (Unlimited old songs are permitted within the time limits set below)

o   Kids (3-12 years): NO Kids Solo items allowed. Kids Duet/Group Dances are not to exceed 5  MINUTES. PLEASE CHOOSE AGE APPROPRIATE SONGS.

o   Youth (13-17 years): Youth Solo/Duet items are not to exceed 5 MINUTES. Youth Group items are not to exceed 10 MINUTES. PLEASE CHOOSE AGE APPROPRIATE SONGS.

o   Adult (18+): Adult Solo/Duet items are not to exceed 7 MINUTES. Group items are not to exceed 10 MINUTES.

o   Karaoke Items are not to exceed 5 MINUTES.

o   Only ONE Prathana Item will be allowed, and not exceeding 5 MINUTES. Maximum 10 kids may participate in the Prathana, 3 years and above.

o   Only ONE Drama item will be allowed. It should not exceed 20 MINUTES. Three (3) microphones will be provided; each subsequent microphone will have to be paid by the group.  First group to register their Drama will be in the show.

o   Only GUJARATI folkdance groups (with 6 or more participants), will receive a reimbursement (maximum of $25 per person from the Mandal for rental of costumes). We highly encourage Youth and Adults to perform group folkdances to add our culture’s richness to the event.

o   All items MUST be registered with TorontoMahotsav@gmail.com; this includes Surprise items! (This means NO surprises for the SKMM Committee members, NO EXCEPTIONS!)

o   Music can be provided in 2 formats: Audio CD-R or a USB with the music in .MP3 format. Deadline to submit your final audio is Monday Sep 1st 2014. Further instructions will be provided by email when you register your item.

1.    Main Contact Person for Item (Full Name, Email, Home Phone and Cell Phone)

2.    Item Type*: Prathana, Solo, Duet, Group Dance, Gujarati Folkdance, Drama, or Karaoke

3.    Age Group: Kids (3-12 years), Youth (13-17 years) or Adult (18+ years)

4.    Number of Participants and Names (deadline to submit full names is Aug 17th 2014)

5.    Songs Requested* (Maximum 2 new songs per mix, Old songs unlimited within the time limits above)

 

*You will receive a confirmation for your Item Type and Song Selection within 48 hours.

GRADUATES 2013/2014

Deadline to Submit Names: Sunday July 27th 2014 (12 noon)

 

If you or a member of your family have graduated from University with an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree, from a College with a Diploma, or have received a recognized Professional Accreditation such as CGA, CMA, CA, LLB, MBA, PhD etc. in the 2013/2014 school year, we request that the Graduate please email us at: TorontoMahotsav@gmail.com by Sunday July 27th 2014 to receive recognition for their educational achievements at the 39th Annual Mahotsav on Saturday Sept 6th 2014 at Rose Theatre in Brampton.

 

When emailing TorontoMahotsav@gmail.com regarding graduation achievements please include this information:

 

1.         Graduate Contact Information (Full Name, Email, Home Phone and Cell Phone)

2.         Type of Achievement: Degree, Diploma or Professional Accreditation (please provide exact details)

3.         Name of Educational Institution (including City) and Date of Graduation (Month/Year)

4.         Short list of hobbies, interests, and your future career plans for your introduction.

5.         If you will NOT be attending the Mahotsav on Saturday Sept 6th, please provide the Name and Cell Phone Number of one person who will be there to collect your certificate of achievement on your behalf.

 

*You will receive a confirmation email regarding the Graduate Ceremony within 48 hours.

 

 

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – HELP WANTED!

 

We are looking for some help on the day of the Mahotsav. This would be a great opportunity for Youths to get those high school community hours.

 

Volunteers needed for:

- Donation Booth                             - Ticket Collection

- Kids Snack Area                           - Break Time Assistance

 

Please contact TorontoMahotsav@gmail.com to sign up as a volunteer by Monday September 1st, 2014. Please include the following information in your email:

 

1.         Volunteer Contact Information (Full Name, Email, Home Phone and Cell Phone)

2.         Do you require a High School Community Hours sheet signed? (Yes or No)

3.         Please indicate the hours you are available between 11:00am and 7:00pm on Saturday Sept 6th 2014 so that we can put a Volunteer schedule together for the day of the Mahotsav.
